Finally, I cut my hair. Whoa, right? I love long hair. And live for it. I’m constantly trying to grow it longer and then one day, I didn’t want it anymore. And I just chopped it. Right away. I didn’t think about it.
Have you ever done something like that? Where you suddenly made a hasty decision that contradicts what you’ve always done, wanted or liked? It’s actually… kind of nice. Maybe we need to get out of our comfort zones a little bit more. If you want something different, DO something different. “Same crap, different day” doesn’t describe the day; it describes your attitude towards it. We settle so deeply into our habits and likes that we block out the possibility of anything new. Trying something new opens up the possibility for you to enjoy something new like entire careers, entire life paths, are carved out by people dipping their baby toes into small ponds and suddenly discovering a love for something they had no idea would capture their imaginations.
I challenge you to do something different this month. Even I, the most routine-loving person, become bored if I’m not continually confronted in some way. And it’s not the new challenges I’m eager to take on that represent my greatest opportunities for growth—it’s the ones I’m not.
It’s the starting of summer holidays, so try something new, something different. No matter how small. Wear that outfit that you love but is outside of your comfort zone, put a little eyeliner on if you normally go without makeup or try a dark daring lip color. Whatever it is, just do something you normally wouldn’t and don’t think twice about it. Just do it and are open to the possibility that you’ll actually like it a lot.
Well, let me enjoy my short hair days.
And then let me know what you did! Run free my little daredevils.
Regards
Khushi Anand
